This tool will not restore deleted documents, but will help you get to documents if users have messed up the interface with Frontpage or something similar.

To prevent users from deleting documents, remove their delete permission, or change the UI so selecting delete merely sends a delete request to someone, or, with some programming, moves the document to a recycle bin rather than deleting.
