SPSFAQ0303175 - Can I preview or see a thumbnail of PDFs in SharePoint? - 0 Comments - stephencummins - Wed, Jun 25th, 2008 - Customisation
Not without custom development. You will need a viewer that can read the PDF format and generate the thumbnail, and then a web part that shows the associated thumnail when a PDF is selected.

Here is how one developer implemented it, he used GNU Ghostscript, but perhaps the foxit PDF viewer could also be used:

This one is an addin for Outlook 2007 to preview PDFs, but the principle is similar:

SPSFAQ0303174 - How can I customise the MOSS page title? - 0 Comments - stephencummins - Thu, Oct 4th, 2007 - Customisation
THe details are here:

I think this is espacially a good idea for public facing websites, as you page title will help your search engine ranking and the title will look better in bookmarks.
SPSFAQ0303173 - Can I re-skin SharePoint? - 0 Comments - stephencummins - Mon, Jun 11th, 2007 - Customisation
Yes, I recently spoke to someone who's company did this so that they could provide SharePoint via narrow bandwidth (a satellite) for people who work in areas where the infrastructure has been destroyed and they need to share information quickly via laptops and satellite phones. Cool stuff.

Here is some more information on what is involved in the process of stripping down the UI:

SPSFAQ0303172 - What limitations are there to using SharePoint Designer? - 0 Comments - stephencummins - Tue, Apr 17th, 2007 - Customisation
SPD is great for making workflows, but it is good to be aware of the limitations:

Moving these workflows is possible within the site collection if you same the list or site as a template, but not beyond the site collection, unless you use Echo 2007: http://www.echotechnology.com
SPSFAQ0303171 - Can I increase the default size of a site template from 10mb? - 0 Comments - stephencummins - Tue, Apr 17th, 2007 - Customisation
The answer is yes! Using STSADM you can increase the limit to 500MB. There are the instructons:
